Events + RETREATS geared around connectioN, COMMUNITY + fun

Events are geared towards fun and community building and we aim to keep the costs as low as possible. Retreats will be held in various global locations and each will feature a different focus on care and wellness with HSD/EDS.

Nama Stay Striped Solutions Retreat Experience - REGISTRATION IS LIVE!

Join Patty, Robyn, and Paige for four days in beautiful southern Utah just outside Zion National Park. Explore a variety of holistic self-care modalities aimed at improving your quality of life while living with Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders/Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes. Experience world-class cuisine and cooking lessons designed specifically for those with difficult nutritional requirements and physical limitations. Activities and group talks will give you tools, such as prescriptive breathing and movements, and knowledge to help you create your best life and manage your symptoms so you can get back to doing things you love. There will also be opportunities for exploring Zion on your own or as part of a guided excursion during your stay.

Brittlestar Art: Creativity & Art Workshop WITH MARY JACKSON| Fully accessible | June 9th 1-3 PM | REGISTRATION IS LIVE!
Nurture and develop your creative practice with fellow Zebra, Brittlestar Art. Learn watercolor painting techniques and understand color theory. Start your own watercolor sketchbook and explore the benefit of an artistic process for your well-being, no matter your experience or energy levels.

This event is BYOB, please feel free to bring snacks and beverages of your own. We ask that you please stay mindful of allergens that others may be sensitive to such as nuts, strong smells, perfumes, etc.

Museum of Nature and Science and Planetarium (or Infinity Theater) + BYOB Snack | Fully accessible | July Date 3-5 PM

Enjoy an afternoon trip to the museum to be in the company of fellow zebras! This outing is fully accessible. We will meet in a private area on the 3rd floor (The Harry T. Lewis Jr. Community Room in the Leprino Family Atrium), away from the crowds as a group at 3 PM. Feel free to use the space to store personal items and have a quiet retreat if needed during your stay. Come a few minutes early and meet some fellow hypermobile folk. Our goal is to create a safe and happy space for our community of zebras. 

3 PM – Intro, 3:15 – 4:15 PM explore, 4:15 – 5 PM – Planetarium Show as a group​

Due to the nature of food sensitivities in our Hypermobile Population, this event will be BYOB. We ask that you please stay mindful of allergens that others may be sensitive to such as nuts, strong smells, perfumes, etc. The cafeteria will not be open at this time but you are more than welcome to use our private area for a snack break.

For this event, we will be meeting up to discuss Rebecca Yarros’ book, Fourth Wing. While the discussion will have an outline and general format, there will be many opportunities to bring up and explore various topics that interest you about living with hypermobility disorders and how they affect our abilities to navigate life.

Comedy Club Outing - Probably a Monday or Tuesday Evening Comedy Works Downtown or South at Landmark (TBD) | Fully accessible | October Date and Time TBD

Laughter is the best medicine! Get your giggle on with our happy herd for a night of comedy on the town. We will gather at (TBD) before the show to say hello before heading in. 

This outing is fully accessible. Both Comedy Works locations are wheelchair and limited-mobility-friendly. Please comment if you have any requests for seating accommodations, including an ASL interpreter; we will arrange the best seating we can for everyone to enjoy the show! Comedy Works has always been incredibly easy to work with regarding access.

RUNNING WITH EDS RETREAT 2025 Date TBD

Tom Stott will lead this retreat for zebras interested in learning more about safe running techniques, supported by the Striped Solutions team. This retreat is geared towards all levels of interest and ability from the novice to the seasoned runner. Biomechanical techniques and running form mechanics will be covered along with other supportive strategies such as nutrition, appropriate strengthening, finding balance with the autonomic nervous system during aerobic endeavors, and much, much more. We will have more information on this upcoming retreat in the next few months.
